Guest artist Duo Sonidos to perform and hold masterclass
The school of the arts will host Duo Sonidos, a guitar/violin duo, on March 18 and 19 for a two day residency. Duo Sonidos will hold a masterclass featuring IU South Bend student composition readings on the 18th, and a public performance on the 19th.
Duo Sonidos brings together the talents of violinist, William Knuth and guitarist, Adam Levin. The duo is at the vanguard of the guitar chamber music world, forging relationships with contemporary composers with the mission of expanding the duo repertoire. In November 2010 Duo Sonidos released their debut album Duo Sonidos and were awarded 1st Prize at the 2010 Luys Milan International Chamber Music Competition in Valencia, Spain.
Levin and Knuth have performed throughout the United States and Europe, and have been honored as United States Fulbright Scholars in the field of music performance in Madrid, Spain and Vienna, Austria respectively.
Adam Levin, classical guitarist, is a leading solo and chamber musician. He has been awarded prizes through numerous international competitions and scholarly programs. As a recording artist, Levin has several albums in his discography.
William Knuth, violinist, has earned recognition as a solo and chamber musician. As an international prize holder and Fulbright recipient, Knuth has performed throughout the United States and Europe including appearances with leading orchestras and featured performances for members of the United States Department of State and the United Nations Council.
Admission to the Duo Sonidos masterclass on Monday, March 18 is free and open to the public. Tickets for the concert on Tuesday, March 19, are available for $5-$9, and are free to students and children. For more information visit arts.iusb.edu or call 574.520.4203
