Flute Extravaganza features Green Golly Project
As part of the IU South Bend Flute Festival, the school of the arts presents the Flute Extravaganza concert on Saturday, March 2. Featured guest artists Barbara Siesel and Keith Torgan of the Green Golly Project will perform “Green Golly and Her Golden Flute,” a humorous musical performance that introduces children to the flute and the magic of classical music. The Green Golly Project is a husband and wife duo who combine flute and storytelling to introduce classical music to children of all ages.
The Honors Flute Choir and the 2013 Festival Choir, made up of all festival participants, will also perform.
The festival is organized by IU South Bend Flute Instructor Rebecca Hovan, a member of the National Flute Association who recently recorded her first CD, A Silver Christmas.
The 2013 IU South Bend Flute Festival is sponsored by Conn Selmer, Flute Specialists Inc., Woodwind & Brasswind, Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments, LLC, and the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts.
Tickets for the Flute Extravaganza are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. Tickets are free to students and children. For more information or tickets visit arts.iusb.edu or call the box office at 574.520.4203.
