Flute and Guitar Ensembles perform fall concert
The IU South Bend Guitar Ensemble
The Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts presents the Flute and Guitar Ensembles in the Art Gallery of the newly renovated Education and Arts Building. Their performance will feature the IU South Bend Flute Ensemble and the IU South Bend Guitar Ensemble.
The IU South Bend Flute Ensemble, directed by Rebecca Hovan, will present a program that will showcase the theme of nature. All but one of the pieces have some connection with either flowers or a scene of nature. Bask in the musical scent of flowers such as Trillium, Baby's Breath, and Snowdrops.
Take a musical journey down the Shenandoah and Moldau rivers, and relax by the seaside as the waves of music gently lap at your senses. Aside from thematic selections, the group will also play a piece by Russian composer Alexander Tcherepnin that evokes a heavy Asian influence.
The IU South Bend Guitar Ensemble, directed by Mathias Stegmann, is going to feature a piece for guitar duo by Andrew York. Their portion of the program will also feature contemporary and classical works.
The concert will begin at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, November 6.
Tickets for the Flute and Guitar Ensembles are available for $3-$5 and are free to students and children. For more information and to order tickets visit arts.iusb.edu or call the arts box office at 574.520.4203.
