IU South Bend Gospel Choir concert unites traditional and contemporary
Let the spirit of the IU South Bend Gospel Choir move you in their concert at 5 pm on Sunday, November 10.
The evening of great gospel music will include a selection of traditional repertoire along with contemporary pieces. The program will feature Richard Smallwood’s “Lord Let Your Light Shine on Me,” Hezekiah Walker’s “Anyway You Bless Me,” and “I Am Still Here” by Dorinda Clark-Cole. Other pieces on the program are the traditional “All I Need,” along with “He’s Alive” by Michael Mindingall. The IU South Bend Gospel Choir will conclude the concert with Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark’s “Hallelujah."
Formed in fall of 2008, the Gospel Choir made its debut in fall 2009. Since then, they have performed in multiple collaborative concerts, including the “Teddy Bear Concert” and “Lift Every Voice” with the South Bend Symphonic Choir, and the “MLK Celebration” with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra.
The choir has also had the honor of performing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” at Four Wind’s Field at Coveleski as part of a special television promotion. The choir has also performed in Greenville, North Carolina and Toledo, Ohio in recent years.
David Brock and Gwen Norwood direct this energetic choir for the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts.
The performance will take place in the Campus Auditorium of Northside Hall. Tickets for the IU South Bend Gospel Choir are available for $5-$7 in advance and $7-$9 at the door.
