Faculty, students perform in SBSO's "An Evening with Leonard Bernstein"

leonard bernsteinThis month the South Bend Symphony Orchestra presents “An Evening with Leonard Bernstein,” featuring IU South Bend faculty and student guest performers.

The concert will feature highlights from American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein, including selections from Candide and West Side Story.

Faculty guest artists will be Assistant Professor of Voice Jessica McCormack (soprano) and Assistant Professor of Music James Bowyer (tenor).

Student soloists will be Tamra Garrett, soprano; Lawrence Mitchell-Matthews, bass-baritone; Julius Miller III, baritone; Carmelo Rosario, III, tenor; and Katie Andrysiak, mezzo soprano.

The chorus is comprised of the South Bend Symphonic Choir, IU South Bend Chamber Choir, and IU South Bend Chorale under the direction of Bowyer and Dean of the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts Marvin V. Curtis.

The IU South Bend Dance Company will perform Symphonic Dances.
