A Theatre Season of Shakespeare at IU South Bend
The IU South Bend Theatre and Dance Company presents a season of Shakespeare for its 2013-2014 line-up. The season includes Shakespeare’s tragedy King Lear, a parody titled The Complete Works of Williams Shakespeare (Abridged), a children’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the Broadway musical Kiss Me Kate.
The selection supports the IU South Bend Campus Theme “Much Ado About Will; 450 Years of Shakespeare, and counting!”
King Lear – 7:30 pm Oct. 17-19 & 2 pm Oct. 20
Experience the tale of King Lear and his three daughters as they struggle with greed, dishonestly, and insanity. “This night will turn us all to fools and madmen.”
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) –
8 pm Dec. 3-6 & 4 pm Dec. 7
Take in the complete works of William Shakespeare in this 90 minute comedic compilation by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield. The show will be presented in the Upstage.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream – 11 am & 1:30 pm Saturday, Feb. 8
Dive into the magic of theatre with your family in this annual children’s theatre production of this whimsical adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tale.
Kiss Me Kate – 8 pm April 10-12 & 2 pm Sunday, April 13
The season will conclude with this musical by Cole Porter. Feel the intensity of characters in this Tony Award winning musical based on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
