IU South Bend presents Kiss Me, Kate
The IU South Bend Theatre and Dance Company proudly presents their newly reimagined production of Kiss Me, Kate, one of the golden age's most beloved musical comedies.
Kiss Me, Kate follows the onstage and offstage exploits of a fiery couple of lead actors on tour. As a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, Kiss Me, Kate parallels the tempestuous relationships between Kate and Petruchio onstage in a show within a show musical of The Taming of the Shrew, while the actors portraying the leads, Fred and Lilli (now divorced but still very much in love), make the walls shake and the ensemble quake with all of their backstage fighting.
With unforgettable musical numbers such as “Too Darn Hot,” “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” and “I Hate Men,” Kiss Me, Kate will have you dancing and singing in the aisles. Come and join us for a joyous romp through one of the Bard's most beloved tales set to the unmistakable music of the incomparable Cole Porter.
Performances will be held at 8 pm on Thursday, April 10 through Saturday, April 12 and at 2 pm on Sunday April 13 in the Campus Auditorium, Northside Hall.
Kiss me, Kate is presented under the direction of Assistant Professor of Theatre Justin Amellio.
Tickets are available for $5-$9 and free to students and children. For more information and to order tickets visit arts.iusb.edu or call the arts box office at 574.520.4203.
