LOOK! Scholarship Art Sale November 11-14
Visual Arts students at IU South Bend have joined with their faculty and alumni to raise scholarship funds at the fifth annual Scholarship Art Sale. Over 500 pieces of art, created by fifty students, faculty and alumni artists, are included in the sale which takes place November 11, 2010 to November 14, 2010.
IU South Bend artists have art for every budget, whether patrons have five dollars or five hundred dollars to spend. The sale features prints, paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, pottery, jewelry and mixed media works.
The sale is sponsored by the Visual Arts League, Art History Club, and the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts. Students Tabetha Coburn McDonald, Katie Carrico, and Dean Kizer named the sale, “LOOK! because we want the community to look at our art, our achievements, and look at us!”
The annual Scholarship Art Sale is both a scholarship fundraiser and a learning laboratory acquainting undergraduate students with the business of art. Art History Club President Katie Carrico says the sale “…aids in helping to understand what it really means to be a working artist. Through this event we also are learning what it means to establish a relationship with our patrons.” Twenty-five percent of the proceeds will support scholarships for art students, 10% provides funds for student art club activities, and 65% of an artwork’s sale price goes to the artist.
The LOOK! Scholarship Art Sale will be open Nov. 11-12 from 12 pm to 9 pm, Nov. 13 from 11 am to 6 pm, and Nov. 14 from 12 pm to 6 pm. The sale will take place in Northside Hall’s East Lounge, adjacent to the Campus Auditorium on the campus of IU South Bend. The event is easily accessible via the Northside Boulevard entrance.
