Professor Michael Lasater will have a solo exhibition of multiple works at the South Bend Museum of Art, March 10 - July 8, 2012.  It will be in the Art League Gallery. The curator will be Mark Rospenda.

Current photo student Alexandra Walker’s (BFA 2013)work has been printed in a nationally juried  Gallery catalogue entitled Man As Object Reversing the Gaze published by SOMArts, a not for profit arts center in San Francisco.  She is a student of Assistant Professor Susan Moore. 

Dance Instructor Ruby Jazayre acted as the assistant stage manager for the off Broadway production of the Dalia Carella Dance Collective’s Ten Year Retrospective in NYC on September 23rd and 24th.

Assistant Professor Jorge Muñiz’s work La Nueche de San Xuan, for flute and harp was released on the CD LaNoche (Spanish for “the Night”).  The CD is a collection of works by Singaporean and Spanish composers performed by Roberto Alvarex (flute) and Katryna Tan (harp). 

The IU South Bend Debate team competed in the Boiler Maker Tournament at Purdue University.  They are coached by Sara Curtis, associate faculty in Communication Studies.  Members of the team are Cory Gilmartin, Luis Hernandez, Preston Tracey, and Karra Chattrew.

The Euclid Quartet performed on October 19th at the Chicago Cultural Center in a concert sponsored by WFMT-radio.

The IU South Bend Gospel Choir, directed by CreAnne Mwale was invited to appear in a film featuring the Maestro Tsung Yeh, Head Coach Muffet McGraw, Miss Indiana, South Bend Fire Fighters and others singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” in front of the new entrance to Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium. The film is being produced by The Big Idea Company. Their performance was so well received that they are invited to return in the spring to perform at the stadium.   The choir gave a concert recently on Sunday, October 30th at Pentecostal Cathedral Church in South Bend.

Students Helen Pappas, violin, Julia Beebe, viola, Kendrick Allenson, cello, and Risa Okina, piano will perform at a special mass at St. Mary’s for Dean Mary Jo Regan-Kubinski.  Dean Marvin Curtis will play the organ for the service.  It begins at 1:30 p.m.

The Toradze Piano Studio performed at the Constella Festival concert in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 16th.
