Bi-Weekly Staff Council

BWSC Highlights July 2009 - June 2010

Welcome Week - Many Council members helped staff the table and introduce the BWSC to students, staff and faculty with a display of our activities and campus involvement. We also gave away "bi-weekly blue" candy and jumbo paper clips to help "brand" the BWSC.

Wheelchair Basketball - Helene took charge of this event for the BWSC. She worked closely with the Union of Students with Disabilities to plan and organize this second year's event. The BWSC enthusiastically supported the student group to help bring awareness to campus and have some fun in the process.

"WOW" (Wonderful Outstanding Worker) Award - Peggy volunteered to head this committee, setting up criteria, taking nominations, and making a party out of the presentation. The first winner was one of our own -- Helene Cooper. She was nominated for her efforts with Wheelchair Basketball.

Bi-Weekly Bowling - Tony and Summer worked tirelessly to promote this event and involve bi-weekly staff from all parts of campus. It was so well received that chants of "Let's do it again" were heard as we exited Regal Lanes and an October date is being considered. The entire campus family will be invited to participate.

"Unsung Hero" Award - Summer headed this committee and collected numerous nominations of bi-weekly staff who go above and beyond in their job. This year's award was presented to Allen Herron from Support Services during Staff Appreciation Day. Posters listing all nominees were displayed in The Grille.

Staff Appreciation Day - June and Peggy jumped in and took ownership of a putting contest. Not only was it fun mixing with other IU staff, it gave us a chance to promote our Putt-Putt Tournament.

Putt-Putt Tournament - Karla, Alfred and Sara developed our "signature fundraiser" into the talk of the campus. Hole sponsors were solicited in addition to players. We ended up with hole sponsors for each hole, and two twosomes on each hole. Next year the goal is filling two courses.

Website - Cheryl volunteered to develop and keep the BWSC website updated. It is filled with photos from our events, information about upcoming opportunities to "mix and mingle" as well as a list of our meeting dates, bylaws and other important information from HR.

Review of Campus Evaluation Form - There was discussion of the new evaluation form and how it should be completed, as well as questions regarding how to develop goals. Summer and Maureen met with Sara Ermeti for clarification and suggested some modifications. Due to this discussion a training on goal setting was held.

Joint Events Planned with Pro Staff - Holiday Luncheon and Thomas Smith Scholarship Trivia Contest.
