Optometry pre-professional program requirements

The requirements listed in this brochure pertain to IU South Bend students planning to attend the Indiana University School of Optometry (www.opt.indiana.edu), although requirements for other schools should be similar. A  B.S. or B.A. degree must be completed before you can enter the School of Optometry.  Once you have chosen a major, you will need to be advised by that department as to the requirements needed to fulfill a Bachelor’s degree.  Please check in the current Bulletin or with the Health Professions Advisor for math levels and pre-requisites for courses.  None of the required courses may be taken Pass/Fail.

Each applicant is required to take the Optometry Admission Test, which is given in the February and October of each year.
