School of Business Recognizes Two Business Leaders

Indiana University South Bend School of Business and Economics recently honored two local business leaders at the school’s annual honors program.
Richard Mellinger, managing partner of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network received the E.M. Morris Award for distinguished achievement, leadership and contributions to the advancement of business and the quality of life in Michiana.
Christopher Craft, senior vice president and regional manager of the Commercial Banking Group of Lake City Bank, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Mellinger was born in South Bend. He is active in a number of community projects including serving as president of the Logan Foundation, and being on the boards of WSBT’s “22 Ways of Giving and the Osteopathic Foundation.
He also has been active with Crime Stoppers, Center for the Homeless and the IU South Bend School of Business and Economics Business Advisory Council.
Mellinger joined Northwestern Mutual in 1970.
Craft began his banking career in 1985. He received an MBA in finance from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s degree in management from IU South Bend.
Craft serves as vice chairman of the IU Alumni Association Executive Council. Previously, he served on the Chancellor’s Advisory Board and the Business Advisory Council.
