F. James Hammer Receives Alumnus Award

F. James Hammer, president and CEO of Imagineering Finishing Technologies, recently received the Outstanding Alumnus/Alumna Award from the School of Business and Economics at Indiana University South Bend.

The award is given to a graduate of the campus who has made significant contributions to his profession and the community.

Hammer received his undergraduate degree from IU Bloomington, and his master’s in business administration from IU South Bend. Before graduation from Bloomington, he received offers from the Big Eight accounting firms but he moved to South Bend to work in his wife’s family firm, Imagineering Enterprises, Inc.

He began as a staff accountant and over the next 10 years he was promoted to controller, CFO, and later president and CFO. He transformed Imagineering into a leading metal finishing company with revenues in the top 10 percent worldwide.

Imagineering is ranked in the top 1 percent of metal finishers nationwide because of numerous industry certifications and accreditations the firm has received.

Under Hammer’s guidance, Imagineering has worked with NASA, GE Aerospace Engine and Locomotive divisions, Boeing, Caterpillar, Ford, IBM and Honeywell.

Hammer is involved in numerous community boards and organizations including the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Foundation board, the Center for the Homeless advisory board, IU South Bend Graduate School of Business advisory board.

He is a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International and a small business advocate with the Institute of Management Accountants.

Hammer lives in Granger.
