Prior to joining the faculty at Indiana University South Bend in the spring of 2014, Dr. Tobey was a faculty member at George Washington University and New Mexico State University. He has taught courses in applied research methods, business strategy, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, and small business consulting. Dr. Tobey has advised businesses throughout the growth cycle, from startup to Fortune 500, in the areas of business concept and plan development, merger and acquisitions, market entry and new product development, strategic benchmarking and analytics, and workforce development and assessment. Dr. Tobey's research into the formation of expertise led to the development of a new psychometric technique, Potential Performance Analysis, which predicts job performance and potential for success in a career. Prior to receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Tobey was a serial entrepreneur whose companies have been listed among INC Magazine's 500 fastest-growing private companies, set international industry standards, and became publicly-traded companies in the early 1990s. He has also served as a consultant, officer and/or board member for private and public companies in the distribution, financial services, hospitality, information technology, life sciences, publishing, and transportation industries.
