M. Scott Welch is president and chief executive officer of Welch Packaging Group. The company has eight plants with the largest in Elkhart.
He graduated from DePauw University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He is currently on the Board of Trustees for DePauw University and has served in the past as a board member for United Way of Elkhart, Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and the Elkhart YMCA.
In 1985, he started Elkhart Container and acquired 10 other corrugated and carton plants through the years. Eventually he purchased Barger Packaging Corp. a firm that once was owned by his grandfather.
Welch Packaging has 410 employees and revenues of $130 million.
