CIVIL RIGHTS HERITAGE CENTER

Civil Rights Heritage Center

Diversity Reading Program

The Diversity Reading Program is designed to provide Indiana University South Bend students and Civil Rights Heritage Center members volunteer opportunities to visit area schools, day-care and community organizations to read to children from books that reflect the many cultures that come together in this country. The program is intended to work with educators to provide another resource that will accompany or enhance previous lesson plans. Currently, we have read to more than 200 young people. The program is in its third year and is still in its developmental stages, but has already received rave reviews from students and teachers alike.
