The CLAS Academic Advising Center

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences recognizes that effective and timely academic advising contributes to a successful college experience and requires that every student engage in academic advising offered in the college. CLAS faculty and professional advisors guide students through a developmental process that encourages students to clarify life/career goals and develop educational plans to achieve these goals. As a result, CLAS offers the most highly rated, among students themselves, advising on campus.

The CLAS Advising Center is the academic home for Exploratory students. Students with a declared major are advised bu faculty members in their academic units. To determine who your advisor is and how to contact them, log into the "Student Center" in Onestart or on

Student Success Workshops

The Advising Center provides student success workshops for all students in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences who desire to learn strategies to raise their gpa. The workshops last approximately 45 minutes and take place in Wiekamp 3190. All materials are provided, just bring yourself and be ready to share and learn. Please click “register now” to complete the form and the Advising Center will remind you of your registration.


Our offices in South Bend are on the 3rd floor of Wiekamp Hall near the bridge area (DW3300B).

Walk-in Hours

A CLAS Advising Center advisor will be available for walk-ins Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Walk-ins are for quick (15 minutes or less) questions or problems. The last walk-in will begin 15 minutes prior to the end of the time period (3:45 p.m.).  

What is a Walk-in type question? 

Here are a couple of examples:  "I'm having trouble in this class..."; "I need to drop a course."
