The Indiana University Police Department is initiating the IUPD Cadet program on the South Bend campus beginning this semester. The IUPD Cadet program is a unique law enforcement training program, which couples the University’s educational programs with specialized police training to produce highly qualified and educated law enforcement professionals. This program allows full-time IU students to work as a member of the campus police department while pursuing an IU degree. In addition, graduates of the police academy receive accreditation as a state certified law enforcement officer. Qualifications for this program are as follows:
* Must be a citizen of the United States
* Be a full-time student in good academic standing with a 2.3 or higher GPA
* Must have at least two years of school left (Freshman are not eligible)
* Have no major sensory impediments
* Possess a valid automobile operator’s license
* Pass a physical and psychological battery
* Must meet entry level physical requirements of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy
* Have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
* Pass an intensive background investigation
Indiana State Police Accepting Applications for Regional Dispatcher at the Toll Road Regional Dispatch Center
The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for a Regional Dispatcher position at the Toll Road Post to staff the Regional Dispatch Center that operates there. Successful applicants must be able to receive, record, disseminate and accurately dispatch information to police personnel, other law enforcement agencies and other support services. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required as well as the ability to type 30 words per minute. Two years of public safety communications experience and emergency medical technician certification are preferred. Pay starts at $30,082 per year.
