Kristen Budd, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of criminal justice at Indiana University South Bend. Her research areas are broadly embedded within the field of criminology and law and society. She has authored and coauthored scientific articles in journals such as Social Psychology Quarterly, the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, and the Journal of Family Violence. Her research investigates sociolegal responses to social problems and stigmatized groups; public perceptions of crime, laws, and punishments; and prisoner reentry and recidivism. She is currently working on research analyzing sex offender laws and policies, specifically public perceptions of residency restrictions and registration and notification.
