E-Waste Festival 2015
Many thanks to our sponsor, Apple, and the IUSB volunteers who made our 7th annual E-Waste Fest possible. This year we collected over 118,000 pounds of electronic waste. This means over the last seven years we have diverted over 1.3 million pounds of waste. See you next year!
E-Waste Festival 2014
The 6th annual E-Waste Fest at IUSB was a great success that collected 270,000 pounds of electronics from over 1,600 vehicles. To date, the E-waste event has collected more than 1.2 million pounds of electronic waste which have been diverted from the landfill.
E-Waste Festival 2013: We smashed previous records!
A total of over 325,000 pounds of electronic waste was collected from area businesses, neighborhood associations (especially River Park Neighborhood Association!), and over 1,200 vehicles from the general public. Great job recycling, everyone!
E-Waste Festival 2012
Another great event! for the 4th year in a row, IU South Bend has served as an annual electronics recycling drop off point. Thanks to over 1,000 vehicles dropping off waste totaling 210,000 pounds we have diverted LOTS of valuable materials from the waste stream.
E-Waste Festival 2011
What a success! A total of 1,607 cars came through the event. We filled 11 trailers with old electronics, weighing approximately 275,000 pounds. This is about a 20% increase from last year.
In addition, our volunteers and improved drop off system allowed us to unload an average of 5 car per minute from 9am-2pm on Saturday.
This was the third year for this event, which was designed to provide an opportunity for the Michiana community to properly dispose of electronic waste.
