IU South Bend offers several courses that are taught via distance, online and hybrid.

Online Points of Contact

Various academic departments and student support units have Online Points of Contact students can email to ask questions and explore online offerings.  

Fully Online Option

  • RN to BSN Completion Option
  • All eight of the Indiana University School of Nursing campuses across the state of Indiana joined to create the RN to BSN Degree Completion Option. Nursing courses are distance-accessible, using web-based and video technologies rather than requiring students to come to campus.

Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS)

  • The BAS degree is offered as an on-campus program and as a fully online program. For more information, contact Karla Forsythe, Asst. Director of the Bachelor of Applied Science Program : kamforsy@iusb.edu or call (574) 520-4346 to schedule an appointment for advising.

Bachelor of Science in Informatics (BS Informatics)

Collaborative Online Programs under Development

Below are Collaborative Online Programs in the IU Office of Online Education Pipeline. IU South Bend has signed memoranda of agreements with other IU campuses to develop these certificate and degree programs, with more being considered, prior to accreditation applications.

  • Check out our Instructions on how to find real-time listing of online courses and their enrollment status (open, closed, waitlist, etc) from One.IU.edu. You do not need to be an admitted student to access this information.

         **IU-wide course definitions as of 9/2013

  • Online All [OA] : 100% of instruction is provided through asynchronous online education in which the student is not bound by place or time.
  • Online Interactive [OI] : 76% to 99% of instruction is provided through online education.
  • Hybrid, Traditional [HY] : 26% to 75% of the instruction is provided through online education. The remainder of the instruction is provided through traditional face-to-face instruction.
  • Hybrid, Distance [HD] : 26% to 75% of the instruction is provided through online education. The remainder of the instruction is provided by distance education used to support synchronous interaction between the instructor and student.
  • Distance, Other [DO] : 76% or more of the instruction is provided by distance education used to support synchronous interaction between the instructor and student
  • IU Courses from Other Campuses 
    • You may take online courses from other IU campuses that are not part of the IU Online Class Connect (IUOCC) through a temporary IU Campus Intertransfer. Check with your academic advisor to make sure that these courses will count towards your graduation.
