Want in on a secret? Students who have jobs on campus have higher graduation rates than those who work off-campus or don’t have jobs at all. An even better secret? There are jobs available all over campus, including right here in housing.
The Office of Financial Aid maintains a list of work study positions offered through various campus and community offices.
There are two positions available here in housing.
Desk Assistants are residents who staff are front desk and help residents with checking-out vacuums, games and equipment, answering questions about housing, and generally assisting with the operations of the department. Desk assistants receive training on housing policies and procedures, customer service, and administration.
Resident Assistants are students professionals who live in the houses with the residents. Resident Assistants plan programs and events for residents, help residents connect with each other and the campus, provide advice and guidance on how to succeed academically and socially at IU South Bend, conduct safety and security patrols of the houses, and confront policy violations. RAs are provided a room in a double, free-of-charge, and $150/month stipend. The RA selection and hiring process is generally held early in the Spring semester for the following academic year.
