Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America
by Barbara Ehrenreich

Title available in paperback: yes

Description of Book: "This book was used in one of my grad seminars and is a wonderful read.  It is about average “working” folks in America and how the average worker, in many, cases just squeaks by.  It goes into the politics of the average worker and what is required to get a job, and hold a job once it is obtained.  It also talks about the politics of a job from the side of the employer.  It is certainly a book I would recommend to any college student from any discipline.  This book is still available and could be readily obtained."
