Free Sealant Days at IU South Bend
The IU South Bend Dental Hygiene program will have a free sealant clinic for children ages 6-14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday (April 1) and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (April 2) at the clinic, 2002 Northside Blvd, Riverside Hall.
The children may be pre-screened for the teeth needed to be sealed by their own dentist or there will assessment done at the sealant clinic.
The clinic is supplying all materials used for the sealant clinic but are asking for volunteer dentists and hygienists to assist. The program is also seeking supplies for goodie bags for the children or funding to purchase these supplies.
The purpose for the sealant clinic is to reduce the gap in access for children’s dental care in the area. Sealants benefit children by sealing off the grooves in the teeth by preventing bacteria to create cavities The clinic also offers parents an opportunity to learn about the low cost services that are offered at the IU South Bend dental hygiene clinic.
