IU South Bend’s Euclid Quartet will host a free string workshop on sound production on January 11, 2014 from 1 – 5 p.m. in the Education and Arts Building on campus. The workshop is a terrific opportunity for high school students to work with a world-class string quartet and learn how to get the best possible sound from their instruments.
The workshop will include sound production demonstrations and exercises, a masterclass on tone, and a group mini-performance. A small group of attendees will be invited to perform a solo during the masterclass.
The Euclid Quartet is the resident string quartet at Indiana University South Bend. The quartet is one of the most well-regarded ensembles of its generation, known for performances filled with passion, virtuosity, and sensitivity. Violinists Jameson Cooper and Jacob Murphy, violist Luis Vargas, and cellist Si-Yan Darren Li will provide a brief performance during the workshop.
High school string musicians who wish to participate can register by calling 574-520-4558 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name, grade, and instrument.
