Diversity in Film

A film that examines race, hate and love is part of the Diversity in Film series at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at IU South Bend.

“Ali: Fear Eats the Soul” is a German film with English subtitles and it will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in Room 1001, Wiekamp Hall. It will be introduced by Jeffrey Luppes, assistant professor of German.

Luppes will moderate a discussion following the film.

The Civil Rights Heritage Center and CLAS are sponsoring the event.

The 1974 film was written and directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and starring Brigitte Mira and El Hedi ben Salem. The film won two awards at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival and is considered to be one of Fassbinder’s most powerful works. Brigitte Mira received the German Film Award for her performance.

Pizza will be served, on a first come, first served basis.
