Fine Arts Weekend

The Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at IU South Bend will host its second annual Fine Arts Weekend Thursday, April 10 through Sunday, April 13.  The Fine Arts Weekend highlights the talents of our faculty and students and includes discounts at restaurants and the Inn at Saint Mary’s for a complete weekend package.

Treat yourself to a staycation after this long taxing winter.  Enjoy a variety of entertaining events presented by the school, and receive discounts at our partner restaurants; Bistro 933 -  10 percent off, Ciao’s Lounge – buy one entrée get one 50 percent off, and Woochi – 20 percent off.  Come out to tour the campus, view the new facilities, and enjoy the talent of their students and faculty.

The IU South Bend Theatre and Dance Company present Cole Porter’s Broadway musical “Kiss Me, Kate” running in the Campus Auditorium April 10-13.  Feel the intensity in the Tony Award winning musical based on William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.”  The show concludes the theatre company’s season of works by or inspired by Shakespeare as part of the campus theme “Much Ado About Will: 450 Years of Shakespeare, and Counting.”

On Saturday, April 12. discover the talent of the music faculty at the Music Faculty Recital.  The concert will be the first public performance to take place in the newly renovated Louise E. Addicott and Yatish J. Joshi Performance Hall.  Be one of the first to experience this state-of-the-art venue.  The program will include vocal and instrumental works, as well as the world premiere of one faculty member’s composition.

Guests will also have the opportunity to view two art exhibitions.  The BFA Student Exhibition II is the capstone exhibition of the graduating fine arts and new media students featuring their finest works held in the Art Gallery of the Education and Arts Building.  The Adams High School Art Show located in the Chancellors Reception Area on the second floor of the Administration Building is an exhibit by John Adams High School International Baccalaureate Program students, including drawings, paintings, mixed media artwork, ceramics, and sculpture.
