IU South Bend Academic Master Plan
I am pleased to share the recently completed IU South Bend Academic Master Plan with the campus and the community. It can be found at:
When I began my duties as chancellor on July 1, 2013, I had two themes that I talked about at every opportunity – planning and student success. I continue to talk about those themes and the campus is making progress on them. The Academic Master Plan is proof of that progress. This plan and the IU South Bend strategic plan will help us make good decisions about resources and space on campus.
Planning for academic programming at IU South Bend is important because adding new degrees requires review and approvals by Indiana University, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and, in some cases, the Higher Learning Commission. The Academic Master Plan gives us the foundation to move forward on priority programs while remaining flexible, so we can adapt to economic dynamics in the community.
I want to thank Marvin Lynn, dean of the School of Education, and Deborah Marr, professor of Biology, for leading the Academic Master Plan Committee. I also want to thank Johnny McIntosh, interim vice chancellor for academic affairs for being the sponsor of the committee and all of the committee members for their hard work.
The Academic Master Plan will continue to evolve as we track our progress and adapt to a changing world. I welcome your feedback. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your thoughts and suggestions.
