Late Arrival Instructions

Please note that arriving late to Indiana University South Bend will severely delay your testing and registration in coursework.

All international students new to Indiana University South Bend must attend New Student Orientation prior to the beginning of the term. Required reporting dates are noted on I-20s and students should make every effort to arrive on or before that date. Any international student in F-1 status must report immediately to IU South Bend if unable to arrive in time to partiipate in the orientation.

In some instances, accommodations may be made for a make-up session. In other cases, a student may be required to defer admission to another semester.  

Deferring Your Admission to a Later Semester

If you will seek a deferral of your admission to a later semester, please complete and submit the Deferral Reuqest Form in your iStart account. 

IMPORTANT REMINDERS!

Students with an Initial I-20

Students with an Initial I-20 who will seek to defer their admission may not enter the U.S. more than 30 days before the new start date of the semester to which they are deferring admission. A new I-20 must be issued with a new start date.

Students who arrive in the U.S. and are not able to begin study within 30 days of the arrival may seek a deferral of the admission to a later semester, but THEY MUST DEPART the U.S. until 30 days before the new start date on the reissued I-20.
