Orientation Reservations - Incoming Summer/Fall 2015 Students
There are two different orientation programs for students new to IU South Bend. Any required placement exams (English and/or math) must be completed PRIOR to reserving for orientation. Click here for exam reservations.
NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION (full day program; 9:00a - 4:00p)
You will attend this program if you are either of the following:
- First-time college student
- Transfer student with less than 26 credit hours (freshman standing)
Registration for classes for the above students takes place during orientation, so it is to your advantage to attend the earliest possible orientation. Seating is limited for each orientation and reservations will close 1 week prior to each orientation (or earlier, if full).

Note: there will be a final orientation available on Monday, August 17. However, you are encouraged to attend on August 7 if at all possible so you can register for classes at that time. Reservations for the August 17 orientation will not open until the week of August 3.
NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION (half-day program; times noted below)
You have the option of attending this program ONLY if you are any of the following:
- Transfer student with 26 or more credit hours (sophomore standing and above)
- Age 21 or older
All of the above students can register for classes PRIOR to attending orientation. Call (574) 520-5005 for advising contact information. Note that this is a change on what previously appeard on the handout at the placement exams which indiccated that adult students and veterans would regsiter at orientation.
