Lyle Zynda hails from our neighboring state Michigan. He received his B.A. from Eastern Michigan University, double-majoring in Philosophy and History, and double-minoring in Psychology and Music. He then received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Princeton University, and spent one year at the California Institute of Technology before joining the faculty at IU South Bend in 1995. His research concerns the foundations of probability theory and decision theory. He has taught a wide range of courses, including cognitive science, logic, scientific reasoning, philosophy of mind, religion, and a course on philosophy and science fiction.
