Students in the Political Science Club have been active in registering students to vote. Students register new voters at Constitution Day each September and before every primary and general election. Contact Dr. Bennion to get involved!
Political science students also have an opportunity to work on get-out-the-vote efforts. Students in Professor Bennion’s classes have engaged in non-partisan phone-based and door-to-door voter mobilization campaigns. Because voter contacts were assigned using randomization, we can definitively state that these campaigns worked to get voters under 30 to the polls on Election Day! Young voters contacted by IU South Bend students were significantly more likely to vote than potential voters in the control group. You can make a difference! Contact Professor Bennion for more information about voter mobilization and research opportunities, or to arrange credit for work with a partisan election campaign.
