Be Admitted to IU South Bend
Students new to IU South Bend must submit an application and be admitted to the University before registering for courses. Potential students will be asked for the following information and may be required to complete placement exams.
Students who have never attended college must submit an official high school transcript (or a GED score) and SAT/ACT scores. Students who are 21 or over are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores.
Students with or without previous college work who do not intend to pursue a degree or certificate may enroll as a Non-Degree student. Non-Degree students are not eligible for financial aid.
Transfer applicants may enroll by submitting an official high school transcript and official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. Placement exams may be required.
IU Students on other IU campuses may enroll at South Bend by first completing the intercampus transfer application online. Additional information is available online at www.iupui.edu/%7emoveiu/.
Guest students from other colleges and universities who are enrolling for any semester must submit either: a letter of good standing, a current transcript, or a copy of a recent college grade report. Students between senior year in high school and freshman year in college may submit a letter of acceptance from their intended college or university. Guest students may be asked to take placement tests for admission to some mathematics, English, and science courses. Guest students are not eligible for financial aid.
Current high school students with at least a 2.5 GPA may apply to enroll in University classes. Applicants must submit a counselor recommendation and high school transcript. High school students are not eligible for financial aid. Placement exams may be required.
Graduate students are admitted directly to an academic division. Information about graduate programs at Indiana University South Bend, admission requirements for those programs, and career counseling is available by contacting the appropriate graduate program.
Application fee: A non-refundable application fee is charged to any student new to IU South Bend. Different application fees exist for U.S. versus International applicants.
