THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE is pleased to announce the 2015-16 series of funding opportunities. The Faculty Research Grants can be for up to $8,500 to support any combination of summer salary and research expenses Curriculum Development grants can be for up to $3,000 to support expenses related to development of new courses or significant revisions to existing IUSB courses. Requests for summer salary for a Curriculum Development project must be well justified as above and beyond normal course prep work. If your curriculum change deals with distance education make sure you check out and apply for the Distance Education grants available here. Sample proposals are available on-line or upon request. There will only be two rounds for FRG and CDG funding each year. Proposals are due at the Office of Research, Academic Affairs (firstname.lastname@example.org) by 4:00 p.m. on October 30, 2015 and March 11, 2016.
Seed Grants are available to support efforts by faculty to seek external funding for research. There is no deadline for this program.
The Research & Development committee consists of nine faculty members, who are appointed by the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate. The Contracts & Grants Coordinator, serves as an ex officio member. The Office of Research serves as liaison between applicants and the committee, which recommends awards to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The committee meets several times during the academic year to evaluate proposals. Each fall it circulates copies of its policies and procedures, and each spring it publishes an annual report.Research Incentive Plan (RIP) - Provides "Cash Back" to faculty, departments, and divisions from recovered indirect costs on external grants.
