The UCET Course Design Institute equips faculty to design or redesign a course while engaging with faculty from various disciplines. Participants will leave the CDI with a blue print that they can easily adapt to design or redesign other courses. After developing clear goals and objectives, participants will design assessments that are clearly linked to the course objectives, and develop strateties for students to achieve the course objectives in a positive classroom climate.

As a new faculty member, I wanted to be able to bring new concepts into old courses that must be taken by the Dental Hygiene students. I realize that many of today's students are familiar with the latest technology and have come to expect that it be integrated to the classroom. I know I needed to update myself on the available technology at IUSB in order to offer engaging and interactive lessons.

I found the CDI offered useful information about syllabus design and content, making and evaluating assessments, creating the classroom environment, and even discipline problems. Not only did I have the opportunity to learn new techniques through the presentation, I was also able to practice each step through assignments and interaction with other faculty. I feel much more confident that I can teach my courses with improved outcomes for student learning and retention.”
